The English Indices of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) 2019 were published on 26th September 2019. The data sources used in each indicator were based on data from the most recent time point available. For the highest weighted domains (Income and Employment) indicators in the IMD 2019 relate to a 2015/16 time point. It is the official measure of relative deprivation for small areas (also known as [__LSOAs__](https://www.ons.gov.uk/methodology/geography/ukgeographies/censusgeography#super-output-area-soa)) or neighbourhoods in England. It scores and ranks each area using these seven different dimensions or domains each of which is based on a basket of indicators: • Income Deprivation • Employment Deprivation • Education, Skills & Training Deprivation • Health Deprivation & Disability • Crime • Barriers to Housing and Services • Living Environment Deprivation The data combines information from the domains to produce an overall relative measure of deprivation. In addition there are two supplementary indices: the Income Deprivation Affecting Children Index (IDACI) and the Income Deprivation Affecting Older People Index (IDAOPI). The indices of multiple deprivation dataset does not indicate absolute improvement or worsening of local deprivation. More information can be found in [__MHCLG's Research Report__](https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/english-indices-of-deprivation-2019-research-report).
