Thank you for your request for information about the following: Please will you confirm the qualifications and experience of the medical assessors Your request was received on 12 September 2023 and I am dealing with it under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. ##Response Medical assessors for the England Infected Blood Support Scheme (EIBSS) are required to possess the following qualifications and experience: • Basic medical qualification e.g., MB BS • Postgraduate Membership/Fellowship of Royal College of Physicians of London/Edinburgh • Specialist accreditation in either Gastroenterology or Infectious Diseases +/- General Internal Medicine; • Extensive experience of assessing/managing patients with chronic hepatitis C and/or HIV; and • Extensive evidence of undertaking research in the field of blood borne viruses.
