##Request## Ill health retired nhs pensioners who came out of retirement to assist in the covid 19 pandemic as employees then further down the line lost tier2 payment reduced to tier 1 and have to pay back tax owed. Date Range: 1 December 2020 – 31 December 2022 ##Response## I am writing to advise you that following a search of our paper and electronic records, I have established that the information you requested is not held by the NHSBSA. Advice and assistance We do hold information on the number of staff who claimed their award under ‘Ill Health’ Tier 2 in a specific pension year and subsequently received a Tier 1 Ill Health award. However, the information does not necessarily indicate the reason the individual returned to work. Therefore, it cannot be determined whether their return was to assist during the COVID period.
