We have handled your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA). ##Our response I can confirm that the NHSBSA holds the information you have requested and a copy of the information is attached. Please read the below notes to ensure correct understanding of the data. __Employer Type__ The employer type (for example, GP Practice), is only recorded while the employer remains active. If an employer closes, the type is updated to ‘OLD’, which means it can no longer be identified as a GP Practice. For the purpose of this FOI, it will only impact those GP Practices which have closed since 31 May 2026. __Practitioners__ A practitioner is defined as any member with practitioner service. Where a member holds both practitioner and officer service concurrently, the practitioner service takes priority. In the unlikely event that a practitioner has active officer service with a GP Practice, they will be excluded from the results. __Non-updated records__ A record is considered ‘non-updated’ where employment commenced before 31 March 2026 but has not yet been updated to 31 March 2026. Some members highlighted in Q1 may have commenced after 1 April 2026, and therefore are not due an annual update. These members are out of scope for questions 3-4. __Member volumes__ Volumes given are based on unique count of members. Some may have multiple posts with the same employer or a different employer, which may or not be a GP Practice. __Error handling__ We are unable to identify which specific employment records could not be updated and therefore entered error handling. We have provided the volume of non-updated GP Practice posts for members who also have an employer-owned error for the same employer code. However, the employer-owned error may not relate to the post or year in question. The table shows the breakdown of all employer-owned errors for GP Practices, including those relating to non-active members. The year the error relates to cannot be identified. This data is correct as at the day the data was gathered (4 June 2026). __Definitions__ Active Member – Member had an ongoing employment. Practitioner – An employment marked as having an employment type 5 (Principal Practitioner), 6 (Assistant Practitioner) or 9 (GP Locum/ Locum Practitioner) Employing Authority – The organisation responsible for updating each member’s pension record and managing their employment. __Data Queries__ Please contact [email protected] ensuring you quote the above reference if you have any specific questions regarding this response; or, if you feel you may be misunderstanding or misinterpreting the information; or, if you plan on publishing the data. __Reusing the data and copyright__ If you plan on producing a press or broadcast story based upon the data please contact [email protected] . This is important to ensure that the figures are not misunderstood or misrepresented.
