FOI Request Response Thank you for your request for information about the following: Request I would like to request the following information: The total number of reports received by the NHS regarding email or SMS communications that impersonate the NHS (i.e. phishing or scam attempts). Please provide the data from 1 January 2023 to the present, broken down by calendar year (e.g. 2023, 2024, and any available data for 2025 to date). If possible, please also specify whether the reports were related to emails, SMS messages, or both. The NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) received your request on 27 May 2025. You clarified your response on the 23 June 2025 as follows: please could I have the requested information that relates to the NHS Business Services Authority. We have handled your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA). Our response Following a search of our paper and electronic records, I have established that the information you requested is not held by the NHSBSA. The NHSBSA does not hold general information on phishing attempts which impersonate the NHS. Advice and assistance The NHSBSA does hold records which shows the number of reported phishing and spoofing attempts, which target or involve the NHSBSA within the past 90 days. If you would like access to this information, you may submit a new Freedom of Information request. Your personal details will be removed from the published response.
