Answer – Longest wait = the longest time that someone has been retired. To re-word the question – What is the longest number of years that a member has been retired who has still not had their RSS?’ The NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) received your request on 20 May 2026, with clarification received on 4 June 2026. We have handled your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA). ##Our response I can confirm that the NHSBSA holds some of the information you have requested. __Question 1 - How many staff do you have dedicated, i.e. over 80 percent of their role, to working on the remedy for those affected by the Remedial Period?__ __Question 2 - What is the full time equivalent number of staff, in question one above?__ __Question 3 - Are these staff given targets? What are these targets?__ __Question 4 - What percentage of staff, in question 2 above, work from home, for more than 50 percent of their working time__ I am writing to advise you that following a search of our paper and electronic records, I have established that the information you requested is not held by the NHSBSA. The current allocation of in-house NHSBSA resource for RSS calculations is delivered as required, through a pool of around 18 individuals who are not dedicated to this activity on a full-time basis. This flexes with demand and those staff members allocated undertake a range of responsibilities beyond RSS calculations. The NHSBSA has a contract with a third-party supplier to deliver a proportion of RSS calculations for the NHS Pension Scheme. The supplier is responsible for managing its own workforce to meet requirements of that contract. As such, the total number of FTE engaged in this specific purpose is not held by the NHSBSA. __Question 5 - How many RETIRED people, claiming their pension, are still waiting for RSS, Remedial Service Statement__ 419,458. Data is as of 31 May 2026. __Question 6 - How many RETIRED people, claiming their pension, with MHO SPECIAL CLASS STATUS are still waiting for their RSS__ 26,443. Data is as of 31 May 2026. __Question 7 - What is the longest number of years that a member has been retired who has still not had their RSS?__ The earliest possible date a member could have retired and not yet received an RSS is 1 April 2015. This reflects the start of the remedy period, not the point at which members would reasonably have expected to receive an RSS. The phase of the Public Service Pensions Remedy that requires the scheme to issue RSS to affected members did not begin until 1 October 2023, following the passage of legislation to facilitate the remedy for affected members of the NHS Pension Scheme. Therefore, technically the maximum term that a member has retired and not received an RSS is from 1 April 2015.
