The coal mining parent phase data set records the chronology of an underground working (Proposed or Actual). A Parent Phase will typically start life as Proposed and as Coal is extracted over a period of time it will become Actual. Actual: The area of an underground working where coal has been extracted by underground methods. Proposed: The area of an underground working where coal is planned to be extracted by underground methods. In November 2024, the Coal Authority changed its name to the Mining Remediation Authority to better reflect its mission and continued commitment to environmental sustainability, safety, and community support.
