The Development Low Risk area is an area where our records do not indicate the presence of coal mining features at surface or shallow depth which may pose a risk to surface stability or public safety. However, unrecorded features may be present therefore our Standing Advice should be attached to any formal planning approval in this area. In November 2024, the Coal Authority changed its name to the Mining Remediation Authority to better reflect its mission and continued commitment to environmental sustainability, safety, and community support.
