Many partners within the local community, healthcare and civic sectors point to their longstanding experience and observation of significant deprivation and poor health outcomes within Selby District. However, much health outcomes data currently available is presented either for the whole of North Yorkshire Local Authority (Annual Report of the Director of Public Health for North Yorkshire 2019), the Vale of York CCG, Selby District (JSNA Report for Selby District), or an emerging if limited data set on Selby Town PCN. The aggregation of data at a Selby district level hides inequality within the area. Looking at data in this manner makes the district appear healthy as a whole and data relating to more deprived areas of the district is often masked (positively) by other areas. The aim of this document is to make visible the invisible inequalities within the district, highlight what they are, and where they are.
