Ad Hoc Management Information Dataset Description This one-off dataset provides information on pension estimate requests received by NHS Pensions relating to NHS England employees. It has been published to provide transparency on the volume and status of requests received and processed following the receipt of payroll data from NHS England's payroll provider. Pension estimates can only be produced once we receive both the request and the necessary data from employers and payroll providers. When NHS England's payroll provider began issuing data to us on 1 April 2026, we started processing requests immediately. Where we have identified opportunities to improve the process, we have worked closely with NHS England to implement them and will continue to do so. We have also increased and upskilled our resources to ensure estimates are issued as quickly as possible. The dataset shows the number of pension estimate requests received by NHS Pensions and provides a breakdown by employer. Further information on the measures included within the dataset is provided below. The data shows that the majority of estimate requests received have been completed. The dataset provides information on: The name of the Employer Group The total number of redundancy estimates received The total number of redundancy estimates where calculations are still outstanding The total number of redundancy estimates where calculations have been received The total number of redundancy estimates which are pending The number of redundancy estimates received which require a McCloud RSS Metrics EMPLOYER: The name of the Employer Group RECEIVED: The total number of redundancy estimates received SINGLE_POINT_ESTIMATE_CALCULATION_OUTSTANDING: The total number of redundancy estimates where calculations are still outstanding SINGLE_POINT_ESTIMATE_CALCULATION_COMPLETE: The total number of redundancy estimates where calculations have been received SINGLE_POINT_ESTIMATE_CALCULATION_PENDING: The total number of redundancy estimates which are pending RECEIVED_CASES_REQUIRING_MCCLOUD_RSS: The number of redundancy estimates received which require a McCloud RSS Please contact [email protected] if you plan to publish content or a media story based upon this data. Data Source Compendia. Data Collection Data is collected from information gathered and input into the NHS Pensions Compendia case management system via manual processes by operational and administrative colleagues in the NHS Pension Service. Time Periods The data covers 01 April 2026 to 13 July 2026 – as of 13 July 2026. Geography England and Wales. Statistical Classification Management Information – this is not an official statistic. Caveats Information: Data Context NHS Pensions provides pension estimates to employers, not directly to members. It is the responsibility of the employer to issue estimates to their employees as required. This is because redundancy estimates are usually requested by the employer on the member’s behalf and the NHSBSA does not hold information about individual cases, or whether the member is proceeding with their redundancy offer. Information: Data Collection Methodology This data is collected via a manual process, based on the information provided by NHS England and NHS Pensions Administrators carrying out the work. We then export this information to our data dashboard for publication. The figures in this dataset represent different stages of the redundancy process. This means the numbers in related columns will not always add up exactly to the totals recorded in other columns. This also means it is not possible to derive additional data points by adding or subtracting the published figures. These numbers should be interpreted as standalone counts rather than components of a single calculable total. Information: Data Revisions and Amendments The information reported in this publication is a snapshot of live data, exported on 13 July 2026. Data can be updated, revised, and amended after its initial publication. Users should always use the latest data available. Information: Understanding Totals The number of calculations outstanding, complete, and pending may naturally increase and decrease over time. This is because the redundancy estimate work is live and ongoing. Therefore, new cohorts of leavers will hit a trigger point for requiring an estimate. This fluctuation is expected and reflects normal activity, not a change in policy or data quality.
