Scottish Water Reported Overflow Event Data to SEPA 2021 - 2025 & Summary Version 2 published 05/08/26

This overflow event data set is the Scottish Water (SW) reported annual overflow event submissions to the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) for the last 5 calendar years (2021-2025) for all overflows with annual reporting requirements in their Environment Authorisations (Scotland) Regulations (EASR) discharge permits. Only assets/overflows with annual reporting requirements in their permits are included on the annual returns. Therefore, this only includes the overflow data for a small subset of Scottish Water overflows and the number of overflows included on the annual returns to SEPA may vary between years due to permit reporting requirements. The data file provided contains the reported overflow event data submitted to SEPA for the last 5 calendar years (2021-2025). This includes the overflow asset, measurement point and licence information as well as the start/stop time (dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss), duration ([h]:mm:ss] and volume (m3) for each discrete overflow event greater than 15 minutes 30 seconds. The measurement points in this data are those that are known to require reporting to SEPA as part of the annual regulatory return. The data file also contains summary annual overflow event data at a measurement point level. This includes: Total number, duration and volume (if required) of overflow events for each year and additional information such as Type of Overflow, Bathing Season Only Reporting, Asset Postcode, Local Authority Area, X&Y (Easting & Northings) co-ordinates and Discharge Receiving Water. To enhance traceability, a Version History tab has been added to the data, allowing for high-level tracking of changes along with a summary of the reasons for those changes.
