Coed Crafnant is a nature reserve owned and managed by the North Wales Wildlife Trust, comprising part of that woodland plus the contiguous Coed Dolbebin. Almost all of the oceanic woodland habitat of the reserve is contained within Rhinog SSSI and Meirionnydd Oakwoods SAC. The first comprehensive bryophyte survey of the reserve was undertaken during January 2014, when baseline monitoring data was collected. A further survey was undertaken in May 2022, which recorded areas of the reserve not covered in 2014, but did not repeat the species grid-mapping exercise of 2014 due to time constraints. This 2025 study aimed to repeat the grid-mapping in order to assess what changes have occurred within the Atlantic woodland bryophyte assemblage.
