[This dataset is embargoed until September 1, 2027]. The data set reports the %carbon, %nitrogen, texture, organic matter, size fractions, pyrogenic carbon, 14C, d13C, pH, bulk density throughout soil profiles in tropical savannah soils under contrasting burn frequencies. Samples were collected in 7 spatial blocks within the Lopé National Park, Gabon (0.156-0.192°S, 11.574-11.635°E) during two field campaigns in 2022 and 2023, respectively. Within each block, there were two savannahs with either frequent (annual) fire recurrence, or low fire recurrence (no more than 1 fire in past 20 years). Data were collected to understand abundance and distribution of pyrogenic carbon in frequently burned savannah soils. The work was supported by the Natural Environment Research Council (Grant NE/T008040/1). Full details about this dataset can be found at https://doi.org/10.5285/594c137a-e55a-47e3-8a4d-ef11fdc2d2fc
