The Marine Mammal Monitoring surveys were conducted to provide an account of marine mammal sightings reported by Marine Mammal Observers MMObs during the Hornsea Project One piling campaign. They were submitted to the MMO for approval pursuant to the discharge of Condition 13 2 e of deemed Marine Licences 1 to 4, Schedules 8 to 11 of the Hornsea Project One Offshore Wind Farm development Consent Order. The report format was agreed with the MMO to provide two summary reports instead of weekly monitoring reports. Monitoring was conducted by a qualified MMObs that started the pre-piling watch 25 minutes prior to the commencement of the soft-start procedure. The MMObs recorded all periods of marine mammal observations, details of environmental conditions and any other sightings of marine mammals as per the JNCC marine mammal recording forms and guidelines. The Marine Mammal Monitoring Dataset includes data on the sightings, cover, operations, effort and the JNCC guidance for using marine mammal monitoring forms.
