This British Geological Survey (BGS) marine sampling survey took place in March 1983 in the Southern North Sea on board the MV Whitethorn. The purpose was to carry out trials of the remotely operated IGS 5-metre rotary drill. Seabed samples were collected using a shipek grab, sediment cores were collected using a virbrocorer and rock cores using a rock gravity corer and rockdrill. These data are archived by BGS. Technical details of the survey are contained in BGS Internal Report 83/6.
