45 sites were surveyed in North Devon between 5th - 16th June 1978 and 18th July 1979, but no report was produced. Instead the original raw data sheets and copies of edge-punched cards have been included as a seperate volume of Hiscock, K. (1981) 'SWBSS: Final Report'. Habitats and communities along this section of coast are best represented in the area between Rillage Point (SS 541 487) and Combe Martin (SS 570 475), a coastline of about 4 km. A wide range of habitats and associated communities are present and, in the area of Smallmouth, several rare species and some Mediterranean-Atlantic species are present.
