Edinburgh Airport has several safeguarding zones: a 30km radius for general development that may affect flight paths, a 13km radius for bird strike prevention which includes monitoring areas with water and waste disposal, and a 5km no-fly zone for drones. These zones require local planning authorities to consult with the airport on applications within the zones to prevent adverse impacts on flight safety.
