This indicator measures how many young people (aged 0-18 inclusive) who have asthma, diabetes or epilepsy are admitted to hospital in an emergency. Purpose This outcome is concerned with how successfully the NHS manages to reduce avoidable emergency admissions for children with asthma, diabetes or epilepsy. These three conditions were chosen as they account for around 94 per cent of emergency admissions for children (under 19s) with long-term conditions.
