UK Ramsar Information Sheets: all details in structured spreadsheet format

Ramsar Sites are wetlands of international importance designated under the Convention on Wetlands. Provided here is a spreadsheet which contains information from the Ramsar Information Sheets (RIS) for Ramsar Sites in the UK, the Crown Dependencies and UK Overseas Territories. It is in a structured format to facilitate data analysis. Note that: * the information in this spreadsheet has not been updated to include changes to Ramsar Information Sheets since 2015; * the official site citation held by Natural England, Natural Resources Wales, Northern Ireland Environment Agency or NatureScot should be consulted for definitive information on the legal qualifying features of Ramsar Sites. The spreadsheet contains the following worksheets: * SiteData – including a brief description, size, location, date of designation, reasons for designation, information on flora and fauna and a site-relevant bibliography. * BirdData – including the occurrence of each bird species on each site. * Ramsar maps – offering a simple mapping facility. * Criteria – with a list of criteria for which each site was designated. * Physical data – with summary information on landscape, geomorphology, geology and soils. * Habitat cover – indicating the percentage cover of certain broad habitat types within each Ramsar site. * Wet types – with broad information on the type of wetland within each Ramsar site such as inland wetland, marine/coastal wetland and man-made (artificial) wetland. * Adverse factors – with summary information on significant natural or human-caused factors which have adversely affected Ramsar sites and any measures being taken to address these issues. * Human factors – with summary information on factors such as land tenure/ownership, current land use & human activities, social & cultural values and conservation measures taken on or adjacent to each Ramsar site.
