Metropolitan Green Belt

This dataset consists of the boundaries of all designated areas of Green Belt within the London Borough of Sutton. The fundamental aim Green Belt is to prevent urban sprawl by keeping land permanently open and that there is a general presumption against inappropriate development in the Green Belt. The construction of new buildings inside a Green Belt is therefore inappropriate unless it is for agriculture and forestry, essential facilities for outdoor sport and recreation, for cemeteries or other uses of open land that preserve the openness of the Green Belt. Each polygon denotes the boundary of each area of Green Belt land: attribution includes the associated policies.
